Dr. Barth has performed hundreds of treatments with vein injections, lasers and intense pulsed light to treat unwanted varicose and spider veins on the legs and to remove telangiectasias (enlarged or 'broken' blood vessels) on the nose, face and other areas.

This extensive experience in the effective treatment of unwanted veins allows Dr. Barth to skillfully blend the best attributes of sclerotherapy and laser therapy to take away unsightly or painful veins.

Lasers precisely use a beam of green, yellow, or invisible light to selectively 'weld' and seal the vein, rendering it immediately invisible with a minimal chance of scabbing or scarring and little or no 'recovery time.' Facial veins clear immediately while leg veins need a few weeks to fade.

Sclerotherapy is a treatment for spider veins and varicose veins which involves injection of a solution into the unwanted vein. The injected solution causes an irritation of the veins. When the veins are compressed in stockings following the treatments sessions and healing takes place, the walls of the vein heal together. This eliminates the vein.

With sclerotherapy injections, as with all cosmetic procedures, the goal is to improve one's appearance. However, patients should allow for a period of six to twelve weeks during which time the treated areas may look worse instead of better. Most patients will see improvement much sooner, but some patients may have blotchy or discolored areas which persist, occasionally, as long as twelve months.
